How to create a 'New Floor' in AssetLog?

Creating floors in AssetLog helps you structure each building into clear levels. This makes it easier to link rooms and assets to the correct location and to plan inspections and maintenance per floor.

  1. In your browser, navigate to
    https://my.assetlog.nl/my-dashboard.

The dashboard is your starting point to access all projects, assets and building information.

  2. On the main screen, click “Projects”.

The Projects section lets you work within the correct project context so floors are always created under the right project.

  3. In the list, find the relevant Project and click “Manage project”.

Project management opens all functions for that project, including assets and the building structure.

  4. In the project menu, click “Assets”.

The Assets area shows buildings and related structure so you can drill down to the building where you want to add a floor.

  5. In the assets list, click “Damstraat 1” (or the building you want to edit).

Selecting the building shows its existing floors and helps you understand the current structure before adding a new one.

  6. After clicking “Damstraat 1”, all existing floors for this building are displayed.

This overview lets you see which floors already exist and avoid duplicates when naming the new floor.

  7. To create a new Floor, click the relevant building in the “Building” column.

Clicking the building at this level ensures the new floor is correctly linked to the chosen building record.

  8. Click “Actions” in the floors view.

The Actions menu provides creation options such as adding a new floor without leaving the overview.

  9. In the Actions menu, click “+ Floor”.

This opens the New Floor dialog where you can enter the key information for the new level.

  10. In the “Name” field, enter the new floor name (for example: “1st-floor”).

A clear, consistent floor name helps users quickly recognise locations in reports and when planning inspections.

  11. In the “Abbreviation” field, enter a short code (for example: “1”).

Abbreviations are useful in compact views, floor selectors and technical documentation where short labels are preferred.

  12. Click “Save” to create the floor.

Saving adds the floor to the building structure so it can be used immediately for rooms and asset assignment.

  13. Verify that a New Floor has been created and appears in the list.

This confirmation ensures the structure is correct and ready for further detailing, such as adding rooms and linking assets to this floor.
