How to create a 'New Task' in AssetLog?
Creating a new task in AssetLog helps you plan and track inspections, preventive maintenance and follow-up actions on assets and locations. This ensures that work is scheduled in a structured way and that each task is linked to the correct project, building and asset for clear execution and reporting.
-
In your browser, navigate to
https://my.assetlog.nl/my-dashboard.
The dashboard is the starting point from which you access your projects, assets and all task-related functions. -
On the main screen, click “Projects”.

Working from the Projects section ensures that every task you create is stored in the right project context. -
In the list, find the relevant Project and click “Manage project”.

Project management opens all project-specific functions, including assets, service tickets and tasks. -
In the project menu, click “Assets”.

The Assets view lets you navigate to the exact building or asset where you want to create a new task. -
In the assets list, click the relevant Building (for example “Damstraat 1”).

Selecting the building shows its structure and associated assets, which helps you link the new task to the correct location and object. -
Use the building’s structure (such as Floor and Room) to navigate to the correct level if needed.

Navigating via floors and rooms ensures the task is accurately tied to the physical location within the building. -
Open the Asset or location record where you want to create the task.
Creating the task from the asset or location ensures a direct link, so the task history is visible when viewing that item. -
On the asset or location page, click “Actions”.

The Actions menu groups creation options such as new tasks, which keeps the interface clean while still giving quick access to functions. -
In the Actions menu, click “Add task” (or the corresponding option for creating a task).

This opens the new task form where you define what work should be done, by whom and when. -
In the Title field, enter a clear name for the task (for example “Annual NEN 3140 inspection” or “Filter replacement AHU 1”).

A descriptive title makes it easy to recognise the task in calendars and lists, and helps with prioritisation and reporting. -
Add a detailed Description of the work to be carried out.
A good description gives technicians and planners enough context to execute the task correctly without additional clarification. -
Select the Due date or planned execution date for the task.
Setting a due date supports planning, helps avoid overdue work and makes it easier to coordinate with other activities on site. -
If applicable, choose a Repeat interval or frequency (for example monthly, yearly) for recurring tasks.

Recurring tasks are essential for structured preventive maintenance and compliance-related inspections like NEN 3140. -
Select the responsible Assignee or team member who should perform the task.
Assigning the task at creation time makes responsibility clear and supports workload distribution across your team. -
Optionally, set a Priority (for example low, normal, high).
Priority helps planners and technicians focus on tasks that are most critical for safety, continuity or customer satisfaction. -
Verify that the task is correctly linked to the desired Asset, Building, Floor and Room.
Correct linking ensures that task history is visible from the asset and location views, which is key for audits and long-term analysis. -
Click “Save” (or “Create task”) to create the new task.

Saving adds the task to the project’s task list and planning views, making it available for daily execution and follow-up. -
Check in the relevant task overview or calendar that the new Task appears with the correct title, date and assignee.

This confirmation shows that the task is properly registered and ready to be managed as part of your asset maintenance workflow.
