Create a new floor

Creating floors in AssetLog helps you structure each building into clear levels. This makes it easier to link rooms and assets to the correct location and to plan inspections and maintenance per floor.

1. Click “Assets”
   This opens the asset structure where buildings and floors are managed.

2. Click “Damstraat 1”.
   Opening the building shows the structure linked to that location.

3. Check that all existing floors are visible.
   This helps you avoid duplicates and see where the new floor should fit.

4. Click the relevant building in the “Building” column.
   Selecting the building tells AssetLog where the new floor should be created.

5. Click “Actions”.

   The Actions menu contains options for adding new structure items.

6. Click “+ Floor”.
   This opens the form for creating a new floor.

7. Fill in the “Name” field, for example “1st-floor”.
   A clear floor name makes it easier to search and use in reports.

8. Fill in the “Abbreviation” field, for example “1”.
   The abbreviation is useful for short labels and compact overviews.

9. Click “Save”.
   Saving creates the floor and adds it to the building structure.

10. Confirm that the new floor has been created.
    This verifies that the floor is ready to use for rooms and assets.
